Localzie Support
Localzie connects your iPhone to AI servers and agents you run on your own computer. Most connection problems come from the server not being reachable from the phone.
Before You Connect
- Run at least one supported server on your computer.
- Supported bare-model servers (OpenAI-compatible): Ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp, vLLM, MLX.
- Supported coding harnesses: OpenCode, Hermes.
- Keep your phone and computer on the same reachable network: the same local network (LAN) or a private VPN such as Tailscale.
- On the computer, make the server listen on your network, not only on localhost. Allow Local Network access for Localzie in iOS Settings, and check your computer's firewall and port.
- Avoid guest Wi-Fi networks that isolate clients from each other.
- Do not expose your server to the public internet, and do not forward ports to it. Localzie connects to private addresses only.
Setup Help
- In the app, open the connection page and tap "Can't find your servers?" for per-server setup commands.
- For server-specific options and authentication, follow that server's official documentation.
Connecting
- Localzie scans your network for supported servers. If your server is on a VPN, or discovery cannot find it, use manual setup to enter the server address.
- Use "Change connection…" to return to the connection list and discovery.
- The direct connection can run over a VPN, including over cellular data. Wi-Fi is not required, as long as the phone can reach the server.
Troubleshooting
- If a reply stops partway, direct model streams can require the app to stay in the foreground. Background durability is not guaranteed for every server kind.
- Check that the server is running and listening on the network, that the phone and computer are on the same reachable network, and that the Local Network permission is allowed.
